Progress report on the Electric Hybrid-on-Demand Framework

Achievements in the first 18 months of the project regarding the Electric Hybrid-on-Demand Framework:

  • Hybrid-on-Demand (HoD) drivetrain for truck-semitrailer developed including compact packaging
  • Hazard and risk analysis performed – based on that: safe overall system design for the electric trailer drivetrain
  • Motor, Battery, Power electronics and control-ECUs installed and running Trailer Drivetrain Management System (TDMS) implemented including safety functions
  • Test drives started successfully (distance >300km)
  • Recuperation, fully electric and hybrid driving modes and capabilities tested
  • ECE R13-compliant pure electric braking mode (implemented and running) – ensures maximum recuperation potential
  • Currently brake blending in development – enabling recuperation during service brake application
  • ECE R100 (Battery electric vehicles safety) test passed
  • EMC (emc electromagnetic compatibility) test passed
  • Fully integrated high voltage traction battery assembled including cooling/heating; designed for mounting in standard semitrailers (400V, 20 kWh)
  • HoD-Framework defines communication interfaces as proposal for standardization; solution is based on existing network protocols J1939 and ISO 11992
