Objectives

  1. Develop and demonstrate an innovative tractor-semitrailer with a configurable distributed electric Hybrid-on-Demand driveline in the (semi)trailer with an internal approach on rightsizing the driveline for each transport mission including an advanced mission based driveline management system resulting in up to 8% energy saving per t.km in long haulage and 12% energy saving per t.km for distribution traffic compared to state of the art tractor semitrailer vehicles;
  2. Develop a pre-standard framework for the electric Hybrid-on-Demand driveline concept, the so called electric Hybrid-on-Demand framework applicable to tractor-semitrailer and truck-trailer combinations that defines structure, functionality and interfaces for process;
  3. Develop and first-time demonstration of a tractor semitrailer trailer vehicle featuring a distributed hybrid driveline including an electrically driven semitrailers;
  4. Develop toolbox with aerodynamic devices/technologies including guideline for selecting options, and demonstrate devices as part of the total vehicle demonstrations;
  5. Develop toolbox with load – and loading efficiency devices/technologies including guideline for selecting options, and demonstrate devices as part of the total vehicle demonstrations;
  6. Check of compliance to the infrastructure for vehicle combination concepts composed of truck-trailer combinations, and axle and total truck weight and vehicle dimensions and recommendations for European legal framework on weights and dimensions.

Long term impact: to agree on a common truck-trailer pre-standard energy anagement interface,enabling a 70% Hybrid on-demand (HoD) market penetration by 2040.
